Nothing says America to me like beer, picnics, family and baseball. Josh and I were blessed not to have to travel this weekend. Usually we head to Iowa for the 4th of July. But since Julia’s graduation was on Memorial Day this year, we got to spend it in DC.
Plus Bonus! My brother and sister-in-law came into town from Brooklyn. So they came to visit me at work the week before and played around DC with us all weekend. I love having them here and it was so nice to just be able to relax and goof around with them.
We kicked off the long weekend with beer tasting at Port City Brewery. This is an old favorite of mine and Josh’s – we may even try to get their beer on tap at our wedding – but it was fun to see it through Kevin and Kathy’s eyes.
On Saturday, our worlds combined and Mom, Kevin, Kathy and I went to the fireworks with Josh and his parents. I’m so happy that our families get along. I love hanging out with my future in-laws and it’s a bonus that my brother and Kathy got to meet them too. We were one big happy bandwagon trailing our coolers and picnic supplies to the Bolling Air Force Base to watch the fireworks, but we had PRIME seats thanks to the Goldmans. 🙂
On Saturday we continued to celebrate our dear country and went to the Washington Nationals Game. I have some horrible selfies from my phone, but all you need to know is that that Nats beat the cubs in the double digits. It was a blowout. I’d like to think I’m their lucky charm as this was my first game of the season. 🙂
What did you do last weekend?
