It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in my apartment! Katie and I put up our Christmas tree last week and could not love it more. My Dad and Patti let us use their tree and all of their ornaments. It’s just so pretty.
- 7oz white chocolate chips
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tbsps sugar
- 1 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- Blackberries and Raspberries to serve on top
- Put the chocolate chips in a large glass bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks and set aside.
- Mix the egg yolks and sugar in a small bowl
- In a pot, heat 1/4 cup of the cream until it simmers.
- Pour the hot cream into the yolk/sugar mixture, mix, and then pour everything back into the pot.
- Stirring continuously, heat the mixture until it becomes thick enough to stick to your spoon.
- Pour the hot mixture directly onto the white chocolate chips and stir stir stir. (This should be a melty, goopy mixture when it’s ready.)
- Fold the whipped cream into the white chocolate mixture with a large wooden spoon.
- Top with berries and put into the fridge to set for an hour.
- You can also always add the berries later after the mousse has set.
Fake Easter + Feasting = FEASTer
Yes, I made up a new holiday, and it was SO MUCH FUN! Since I missed real Easter at home while I was in Florida, Josh and I invited Mom and Grandpa over to my apartment on Sunday for FEASTer dinner.
As you may remember, I did something bad, but it ended up working out in my favor because it provided for a perfect FEASTer dessert! Candy FEASTer eggs!!!!
For the main meal, Josh and I had a blast coming up with recipes. We settled on the following menu:
As always with my family, the dinner conversation was hilarious! We chowed down while chatting away and I had such a nice time. This was also Grandpa’s first time seeing my apartment. I think he approves. 🙂
Ok now for the best part of the night… DESSERT!
So, I obviously was really excited to have dessert and eat all of the delicious candy I purchased on sale. After filling the eggs with all the different goodies (gummie bears, cadbury eggs, mini cadbury eggs, jelly beans, milky way bunnies, twix eggs, coconut eggs, and chick bouncy balls!) I instantly knew that I wanted to come up with some kind of game to play as I distributed them.
As Grandpa wasn’t going to trapse around my apartment and I’m lazy, I decided that a trivia game might be fun. I found some Easter jokes, and proceeded to question each person.
It was HILARIOUS! First the jokes are bad. Like really bad. So bad they are funny. So when people were guessing incorrectly, if I liked their answer, they got an egg. If they got the answer right they got two eggs, etc.
My mom was so excited about the game she started making up her own riddles. They were even worse and even more funny.
This below picture is my favorite because my mom is thinking SOOOOOO hard. Her face cracks me up. Practically all the answers had “hare” or “hop” in them. So I seriously don’t know why she was thinking that hard. 🙂
The other best part was that I completely tricked my mom. Her favorite candy is Reese’s Eggs. She doesn’t even like regular Reese’s but the eggs she loves. She says they are a perfect peanut butter to chocolate ratio.
However, she won’t buy them for herself. She has to be given one. I think this is because she is afraid she will eat all of them at once.
When she saw the basket of eggs, the first thing she did was rifle through it and say, “Wait… are there no Reese’s eggs?”
I fibbed and told her that they didn’t have any left at the store. I have never seen her look so sad!
What she didn’t know was that there was a golden egg in the bowl. And whoever picked the golden egg got a ridiculous song by me about golden eggs (a la Willy Wonka’s golden ticket) annnnnnnnd FIVE REESE’S EGGS!
My mom was the first to pick the golden egg and she was so excited. We were all cracking up!
Overall, FEASTer was a blast! And everyone got to take home their own little goodie bag of FEASTer candy. 🙂
I spent Easter in this tropical paradise. It looks like a castle. It wasn’t a castle but I didn’t care because it was 85 and sunny. Thank you Florida!
Hehehehe I caught Dad sleeping by the pool! While Julia and I floated around.
I could honestly lay in the sun all day long. It was nice on Easter that mass was at 6pm – we had the entire day outside. Jules and I were so excited we were poolside by 9:30am. Win.
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your family, friends, and bunnies. 🙂
Look at these beautiful girls! I swear my cousin and sister could be in a Pantene commercial.
