You know what is awesome? Going to weddings of people you love. And boy oh boy have Josh and I been doing that a lot this year. And I cry. At every wedding. I just can’t help it.
Last weekend, Josh and I took clear advantage of the long weekend and went to Claire and Matt’s wedding in Cherry Hill, NJ and then up to Long Island, NY to visit my cousin Rachel and meet her new baby Alexa.
While we didn’t love driving up and down the Jersey Turnpike a thousand times, we did love being a part of our sweet friends’ wedding and spending time with our newest family member. The truth is that sometimes I get really overwhelmed about being gone more weekends than we are home but I wouldn’t want to miss any of the times that we spend with people we love. Life is too short and our loved ones are too important. So for now, we can travel and so we do. What a gift!
Claire and Matt asked me to read the Prayers of the Faithful during their wedding ceremony. Obviously I cried and then said yes and was so happy to be there for the rehearsal and a part of the wedding. I actually helped introduce the happy couple four years ago when we were all performing in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee together. If you don’t know the musical, do yourself a favor and go listen. It’s funny enough to keep you entertained during work with you edit documents. I promise. 🙂
Then Claire and I did another show together, Legally Blonde, in which she, Evie and Erica (in our LB picture above) all became best friends. These girls are so fun and kind and I love that we all still are in each others lives three years after the show ended! Delta Nus forever obviously.
Claire wore the most stunning white rehearsal dress. Very Audrey Hepburn. And I had to share this picture of them rehearsing because I just love that Claire was cheesing for me and Matt was HARD CORE paying attention!
The wedding the next day was even more lovely. Claire looked like a princess, her dress was a gorgeous blush with ivory lace and it was just perfectly her. I, of course, cried as she walked down the aisle with her dad. That may explain why I only got a good one of her back but who cares… THAT TRAIN!
I also have to mention their first dance. I mentioned that we are all involved in musical theatre. Claire is an excellent dancer and she choreographed a simple number for their first dance. Her newly-minted, piano-playing husband kicked and lifted like a champ! It was such a sweet moment to watch.
And we even got our Legally Blonde family picture. We took a Spelling Bee one too but since Josh was in that with us, I don’t have a copy. Oh yeah, Josh was there and a delightful date for the evening. You can see our glamor shot here.
And then we danced. All night. Who needs shoes anyway?
This post has gotten a little long so I’ll be coming at you live tomorrow with cute baby Alexa pictures. Stay tuned. 🙂
And I have to know, what is your favorite part of a wedding? Mine is always, hands-down when the bride and groom see each other for the first time.
