It’s a good thing I have Jenni’s prompt today to talk about my most embarrassing moment. It’s been a rough week and my brain is mostly mushy, so I’m happy to take a little break and just tell you about how embarrassing I can be.
I will start by saying that I mostly don’t get embarrassed. I’m a goofy, outgoing, LOUD person, so more often than not, I’m doing something that is embarrassing. I kind of just embrace it.
One of my worst moments was definitely in high school. I was playing Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, and I had about 12 costume changes. I was constantly running offstage and back to the dressing room to change.
Well during one of the performances, I ran back to the dressing room and was changing into my next costume when the Assistant Stage Manager came bounding into the room screaming that I was supposed to be on stage.
Yep. I missed an entrance. I got ahead of myself and was onto the next costume change when I should have BEEN ON STAGE! I came running on to the stage while buttoning my blouse. It looked like Freddy and I had just been making out in the cab. 🙂
The worst part was that there was about 60 seconds of total dead time on stage. Everyone in the ensemble was standing around -likely cursing me under their breaths- and looking clueless. It was mortifying and totally my fault.
Don’t worry, that was also the night that my stepdad video taped. So all of my future grandchildren can watch my embarrassment. 🙂
